Notes augmented
We've enhanced and de-bugged Notes. If you haven't tried it yet, now's the time! You can create a private note when you ban multiple users. You can also delete multiple notes at once. Lastly, paid users have the option to add a note (visible only to you) whenever you add or remove a friend (guaranteed to avoid embarrassing social mishaps). If you don't currently have a paid account, you can upgrade now! It only takes a few minutes and costs less than a bad shopping mall haircut (plus, it's way more fashionable)!
Product tweaks and bug kill
- In another effort to zap spam, comments containing links from domains LiveJournal deems untrustworthy are now automatically screened
- If you sign up to get notifications of the Writer's Block question of the day, you'll now see the daily question in the email notification, so you'll have a little extra time to ponder before you post. You can subscribe to Writers Block notifications here
- The issue causing random comments to vanish has been fixed!
- If you visit a LiveJournal page and get prompted to log in, you'll be returned to the same page after you sign in (Thanks, Dreamwidth)!
- If you don't edit the timestamp for an entry at all, the entry timestamp will indicate the time the entry was posted instead of the time the Update Journal page was loaded
- Comments with paddings/backgrounds render correctly within the comment box (and will no longer wrap outside the box and break frames/margins)
New FCK fixes rich text editor!
- We've updated our RTE (Rich Text Editor) to FCKeditor version 2.6.5
- When switching from the RTE to HTML editor, links for syndicated feeds are no longer broken
- RTE now functions properly in Safari 4.0
- An extra line/space will not be auto-inserted whenever you switch from RTE to HTML editor
- The insert image link now works correctly in all browsers
LiveJournal Cares
We’re pleased to introduce you to
lj_cares, a new LiveJournal community dedicated to raising awareness and funds for U.S. charitable organizations that improve the health and well-being of people around the world. Each month, we’ll spotlight a nonprofit that is making a significant global impact through medical research, public outreach, and/or humanitarian social programs. Charities will be selected in accordance with the U.S. calendar of national health observances based on a high rating (of over 60%) on Charity Navigator and global scope of impact.

In this, our inaugural month of November, we will celebrate national adoption month by offering a charitable virtual gift (priced at $2.99) to support Love Without Boundaries, an organization that saves the lives of orphans with life-threatening diseases and places them in loving homes around the world. LiveJournal will donate 100% of the proceeds from the sale of charitable vgifts (we'll cover the cost of credit card transaction fees). To learn more about Love Without Boundaries, please visit
lj_cares and read about how they helped save Baby Kang and the Rainbow Twins from fatal illnesses, who are now thriving in nurturing families. You can purchase your Love Without Boundaries gifts in the Virtual Gift shop.
Papered in postcards
A couple of weeks ago, we asked you to send in postcards to surround us with LiveJournal community. Thanks for coming through! We've received postcards all the way from Germany, Finland, and Canada and from all over the US, including Texas, Florida, Alaska, Montana, Wyoming, Indiana, Hawaii, and Oklahoma just to name just a handful. We're thrilled with our improved decor.

Please keep the love coming for one more week by writing to Frank the Goat, Esq., c/o LiveJournal, Inc., 539 Bryant Street, Suite 210, San Francisco, CA 94107. Be sure to include your username, since we'll be drawing the names of ten random contributors next Thursday to win paid account credits!
Photos of the week
We have more dazzling images posted by talented LiveJournal photographers from around the world. We're hoping to span the entire globe, so please continue posting and tagging. Of course, you can also sit back and enjoy the view at

We thank you, once again, for joining us. See you next week!
BUT! I had an explanation! Really, I did! There were no seats inside the restruant..O.o; and since I can't stand and eat with my coordination I just sat outside, it was covered.
So..yeh, I ate lunch, outside, in the wind and rain, 41 degrees, with my ipod on Christmas music, and finally reading my copy of Burt Ward's bio. LOL. The looks of people's faces when they saw the cover was hysterical. xD (cos you know the cover isn't exactly G-Rated...o.o;)

Some further instruction on the exchange, for the benefit of all participants and/or people still wishing to participate:
1. All wishes have now been claimed. Please refer to the instruction post for deadlines, including the deadline for relinquishing your claim to a pinch-hitter.
2., You may begin posting anytime. Once you find out who wished for your fic, please add that information somewhere in your summary information.
3. I would hope the courtesy goes without saying, but just in case: When someone posts the fulfillment of your wish, comment to thank them, will you?
4. As of now, no wishes will be changed, altered, or swapped. If you have a problem with your claim, please PM a MOD. Please remember that you may do either of the two wishes in your claim; that's to give you some leeway with your choice.
5. I was going to send out a confirmation to all writers/artists, but there are quite a few, so I will just state here: Everyone, with one exception with whom I've already resolved the issue, got the claim they last requested. If you have not heard from me, then you may consider that wish claimed.
--
Now that that's out of the way, anyone in the comm may feel free to make more wishes! Comment to the wish post (NOT to this post!) and follow the directions to make new wishes in the same way you did before. If you didn't have a chance to make wishes, now's your chance.
1. These wishes will be added to the wish list as additional wishes.
2. Once a writer/artist has finished his claim (and only then), then he may pick additional wishes to write/draw if he so chooses.
3. There is no requirement to reciprocate wishes; wish as many times as you like and you don't have to write in return - but don't be disappointed if no one wants to take up your wish.
4. Writers, artists, anyone - if you want to do an additional wish out of the holiday spirit of your heart, just claim that wish in the post as you would have before.
5. Remember to be specific. "Banner for my LJ" is not specific; "banner for my LJ, green and orange, Ian Hart as Watson" is. Specific prompts usually get claimed faster than general ones.
6. When a claim is posted, then the unfulfilled of that claim's two wishes will be posted under the additional wishes for others to claim if they feel like it.
7. Please promote this in other LJ comms! Feel free to take the banner from the top and use it to advertise.

Title: Fall
Author: med_cat
Word count: 1,030
Warnings: none
Summary: For the holiday fic/art exchange wish #12. I wish for (1): FIC: Pure fluff and/or h/c. During retirement years, Watson gets sick/has a bad fall/something of that sort in London, and Holmes comes back to London (probably the only time he did) to entertain and take care of him for however long you choose.
I do NOT wish for: character death, ooc-ness, Holmes-on-drugs, slash
Anything else you think might be useful to your secret Santa? Just H&W in the fic, please. OCs are well and good but not my thing.
A/N: Also inspired by KCS's sentence #27--Fall: Growing older had never seemed so terrifying as the afternoon a telegram to his cottage informed him that the Doctor had taken a bad fall in his consulting room that morning and would be laid up in bed for a fortnight--but he wasted no time in wishing for the past; he had a valise to pack.
Thank you to our wonderful moderators
To whoever wished for this fic: I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it! I wrote the entire thing in one day, which is a record for me :)
EDIT: As it turned out, this fic was requested by KCS (

Title: Gift
Author: ZionAngel
Rating: PG-13
Length: 2,517 words
Summary: When he needs her most, Pepper gives everything of herself to him.
AN: This is pretty much complete and total emotional fluff. The idea came to me while avoiding an awful assignment, and I just couldn’t let it go. I’m hoping the emotional tone in this is as strong as it was in my head. This hasn’t been edited except for spelling and stuff. I wrote it using the glorious tool that is Write or Die (a huge life saver, really), so I was really pushing to get it done, so I’m not sure if it’s up to my usual caliber. Reviews are much appreciated!
